Waltham is a bustling area with many businesses along the 128 corridor. For its residents, the perfect location along Routes 128 and the Massachusetts Turnpike offers the ideal location for those who commute. Waltham is also notable as it is home to higher level education institutions including Brandeis University and Bentley University.
Waltham played a significant role in United States history as it was home to The Boston Manufacturing Company. This was the prototype during the 1800’s for city planning and later became known as the Waltham-Lowell system of labor and production. Waltham is also commonly known as “Watch City” as the Waltham Watch Factory opened up in the area in the mid 1800’s and was the first to use an assembly line in their production.
